Witbier (White Gold) - Barkerville Brewing Co. - $5.70

Mood: Chill Thursday night making a desicion between going to a conference tomorrow in Seattle or staying in Vancouver and planning my weekend.

Where to Buy: BC liquor

Price: $5.70

Beer Type: witbier

Ingredients:

Country: Canada (Quesnel, BC)

%: 4.9%

ml: 650ml

Appearance: cloudy yellow, like gold! (No joke)

Smell: like hoegarten, sweet, refreshing.

Taste: like hoegarten (they all kinda taste the same), sweet with a slight white wine taste and apricot taste, slightly bitter the more I drink

Mouthfeel: tough on the tongue at first and then turns into a light cream

Finished: light and slightly bitter the more I drink it. The bitterness can get old fast.  Goes away after about 20 seconds.

Overall: Not bad. I like the packaging as well as the cheap price tag (for BC at least) and it's a nice witbier, honestly at this point they all taste the same to me.  Lighter than other beers so does not give me much of a buzz.

Prohibition Harvest Ale (Pumpkin Spice) - 5.50

Mood: wanted something fall-like

Where to Buy: BC liquor

Price: 5.50

Beer Type: Ale

Ingredients:

Country: Canada (Kelowna)

%: 5.5

ml: 650ml

Appearance: a darker ale look, looks like a pumpkin!

Smell: like cheap beer from undergrad (keggers)

Taste: not really sure, tastes like normal beer, but much more bitter, and I dont taste pumpkin or spice, unless that's the bitter taste....

Mouthfeel:

Finished: bitter but wait... there it is!  I taste some pumpkin and some spice! score!

Overall: Not a fan.  It tastes cheap.  I know that wasn't the effect that it was going for, but seriously. Its super bitter in the mouth (not IPA hops bitter, just bitter beer bitter) and there is no pumpkin or spice to be had except for the lingering aftertaste.  Boo.

Lager - Spaten - $1.90

Mood: bored as fuck, decided to try another beer...

Where to Buy: LCBO

Price: $1.90 (=0.10) $2.00

Beer Type: premium lager

Calories: 160 per bottle

Ingredients: Black malt; corn syrup; caramel malt; and hop extract. Priming sugar used when bottling. (No wonder its sweet!!!)

Country: Germany

%: 5.2

Appearance: normal yellow, head is weak and disintegrates quickly.

Smell: fresh and sweet like a green apple candy and summer rolled into one. Kinda light a dish detergent...

Taste: normal, kinda cheap and tinny, but not as bad as others I've tried. Reminds me of Keith's. bitter, slight green apple candy ness...

Mouthfeel: 3/4 carbonation,

Aftertaste: Tin, plus bitter in the back of my throat plus that weirdo applely taste!

Overall: nothing special, nothing god awful. But not something I would choose again. Average beer, average taste, average everything?!
