Cream Soda Beer - Storm Brewing -$8.00

Mood: Crap, has it be a week? Does a growler go bad after a week?!?!?

Where to Buy: Storm Brewery

Price: $8.00 a fill

Beer Type: Pilsner with Creme soda flavour?

Ingrdients: ?

Country: Canada (Vancouver, BC)

%: ?

ml: 946ml

Appearance: ale coloured

Smell: Creme. Soda.

Taste: Creme soda in frat beer

Mouthfeel: watery, flat.

Finished: bitter, like a mixed drink was added to my beer (whiskey or vodka)

Overall: they have very unique flavours and I did drink this a little late, meaning I was probably flat. Will give them another chance due to the great price for a craft beer.

Witbier (White Gold) - Barkerville Brewing Co. - $5.70

Mood: Chill Thursday night making a desicion between going to a conference tomorrow in Seattle or staying in Vancouver and planning my weekend.

Where to Buy: BC liquor

Price: $5.70

Beer Type: witbier

Ingredients:

Country: Canada (Quesnel, BC)

%: 4.9%

ml: 650ml

Appearance: cloudy yellow, like gold! (No joke)

Smell: like hoegarten, sweet, refreshing.

Taste: like hoegarten (they all kinda taste the same), sweet with a slight white wine taste and apricot taste, slightly bitter the more I drink

Mouthfeel: tough on the tongue at first and then turns into a light cream

Finished: light and slightly bitter the more I drink it. The bitterness can get old fast.  Goes away after about 20 seconds.

Overall: Not bad. I like the packaging as well as the cheap price tag (for BC at least) and it's a nice witbier, honestly at this point they all taste the same to me.  Lighter than other beers so does not give me much of a buzz.

Jackline Rhubarb Grisette - Lighthouse Brewing Co - $5.99

Mood: tipsy after Vancouver beer fest training (had 2 beers before this)

Where to Buy: BC liquor

Price: $5.99

Beer Type: table saison, grisette

Ingredients: wheat, oats, malt, rhubarb

Country: Canada (Victoria, BC)

%: 5.5%

ml: 650ml

Appearance: cloudy yellow, like wheat beer

Smell: sour, alcoholy, like he sour I had last week.

Taste: a mix between wheat beer and the sour I had last week, no rhubarb whatsoever (unless I'm just used to strawberries and rhubarb...)

Mouthfeel: very sharp. Like tonic water, not creamy. Bubbly.

Finished: like a vodka beer aftertaste.

Overall: I want to like it because of the ingredients, but honestly there is nothing I like about this beer. It is literally a mix between a sour beer and wheat beer, and I don't like sour beer at all.

Porter (Dark Matter) - Hoyne Brewery - $7.50

Mood: first night back in BC!

Where to Buy: Coal Harbour Liquor Store/ BC liquor

Price: $7.50

Beer Type:

Ingredients: filtered water, malted barley, choice hops, yeast

Country: Canada (Victoria, BC)

%: 5.3%

ml: 650ml

Appearance: Dark brown/black

Smell: roasted, dark, strong stout.

Taste: stout like, but not annoying that it sticks around and is the Bain of my existence after it is done. A stout I can pleasantly handle

Mouthfeel: doesn't turn too creamy in the mouth, bubbly(ish) and kinda earthy if kept in the mouth

Finished: no real aftertaste, a bit of bitter stout, but not much.

Overall: I like this as a stout. I like the potato one too but the difference is that this TASTES like a stout, and what I thought a stout would taste like. The potato one was just light.

Potato Stout - Black creek - $5.00

Mood: getting ready for brunch, who ever heard of potato stout? Cool!

Where to Buy: LCBO Square One

Price: $5.00ish

Beer Type: stout

Ingredients: water, barley, potatoes, hops, yeast

Country: Canada (Toronto, on)

%: 5%

ml: 500ml

Appearance: Dark Amber

Smell: subtle unsalted potato chip and light beer

Taste: light for a stout, still has a stout flavour but not as intense of an aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: turns creamy in mouth, bubbles remain, harsh on the tongue (burning) but no real bitterness.

Finished: light, very light, slight potato stout? But I notice my tounge is burning. Like black pepper without the pepper. Almost a minute later don't taste anything but slight potato beer (like non existent) and burn.

Overall: I am used to stouts being bitter and strong. This was surprisingly light for a stout and no real aftertaste, likes e slight potato taste! Only issue is the stinging feeling afterwards, a little intense. Will try if people are wondering what potato beer is, worth it.

Wheat Beer - Side Launch Brewing Company - $2.70

Mood: getting ready for work and trying what's left in the can from last night

Where to Buy: LCBO Square One

Beer Type: wheat (Bavarian style)

Ingredients: water, malted wheat and barley, hops, yeast

Country: Canada (collingwood on)

%: 5.3%

ml: 473ml

Appearance: Light yellow and cloudy

Smell: fruity, like hogarden.

Taste: very light! Hardly even has a flavour

Mouthfeel: turns creamy in mouth, bubbles disappear, a bit harsh on the tongue (little burning) but no flavour

Finished: light, very light, tastes like hogarden like I said,

Overall: a very "light" flavoured beer, no aftertaste really, thought it looked like water when I was drinking it, good choice for a Bavarian style beer that is brewed locally. Very light! Very clean! Very good!
