Pale Wheat Ale (Summer Ale) - Samuel Adams - $2.25 (stolen from beer fest)

Mood: just wanted to experiment and try it. (Stolen from beer fest)
Where to Buy: LCBO

Price: $13.60 (6pack)

Beer Type: pale wheat ale

Ingredients: lemon peel, grains of paradise, malted wheat.

Country: USA

%: 5.5%

ml: bottle

Appearance: Wheaty. Dark golden.

Smell: wheaty, but with a hint of lemon zest

Taste: light. Nothing too strong or overpowering. All pretty balanced. Hint of spice and cooked lemon. Very neutral though. Not many bubbles either (wasn't chilled)

Mouthfeel: bubbly, turns into velvety bubbles, stays strong to the cooked lemon taste on mouth (doused in beer!)

Finished: s
picy aftertaste, also tastes like cooked lemon aftertaste. Stays with you in mouth. Not harsh or strong though, also quite a neutral/bitter finish (like the neutral smoothies!)

Overall: surprisingly good due to its neutral flavour.  Not a beer to drink if really craving one, doesn't really have a beer taste, more a subdued flavour.  I would definitely buy this if it is an option for summertime drinking.

Price: not sure

Beer Type: wheat beer

Ingredients: Not sure

Country: Canada

%: 5.0%

Taste: same as smell, odd. Bitter aftertaste, very bitter, taste a little like olive juice oil...

Mouthfeel: bubbly, turns into very bitter taste on younger, tastes almost savoury.

Finished: bitter, bitter in my mouth afterwards.

Overall: I don't think I'll be trying this again. Bitter, Olivy, probably good with bitter food (might taste sweeter) but tried after chocolate and almost died it tasted like oil...

Lager - Dragon stout - $1.90

Mood: Craving some good sweetness. Aka dragon stout!

Where to Buy: LCBO

Price: $1.90 (=0.10) $2.00

Beer Type: European Lager Beer

Calories: 220 (WHAT!!!??? Holy eff!)

Ingredients: Black malt; corn syrup; caramel malt; and hop extract. Priming sugar used when bottling. (No wonder its sweet!!!)

Country: Jamaica

%: 7.5

ml: 300

Appearance: dark stout colour, with a great white cappuccino head...

Smell: Stout, plus a package of sugar.

Taste: sweet stout. I've had stout once before this (winter beard cranberry chocolate beer) and I wanted to barf. This is like the ice wine of beers. I'm in love. It's like I sucked on a piece of fudge and drank a bit of beer.

Mouthfeel: how I like it, semi carbonated, heavy. Pillowy.

Aftertaste: Stout + sweet. Very pleasant, but heavy. Not really a summer beer.

Overall: this is definitely in its own category, and winning against itself. It's sickeningly sweet just how I like it, but definitely not a beer to drink with any sort of food, except dessert, maybe... Who am I kidding... It's its own dessert!!!

9.5/10 (the last 0.5 is missing because its like 4 million calories.)

Lager - Tatra - $1.85

Mood: Just got home from working with mosaic at a good leafs game. Been craving beer all week!

Where to Buy: LCBO

Price: $1.85 (=0.10) $1.95

Beer Type: European Lager Beer

Calories: 110 (bottle)

Ingredients: malted barley, choicest hops, and pure mountain spring water

Country:Poland (brewed by Heineken International)

%: 5.5

ml: 500

Appearance: "pale" ale. Aka: bright yellow. White head that disappears right away!

Smell: Smell's like beer but a little sweeter. Like if a Heineken and Strongbow had a baby.

Taste:Not bad. Tastes beer-y like I like, goes down full and slightly bitter (not in a bad way), there is a mild bitterness on the palate with each sip, from start to finish. Ends sweet and cider-y. Also, like if a Heineken and Strongbow had a baby.

Mouthfeel: pillowy, not too carbonated (my favorite), let it sit in your mouth and it turns slightly creamy.

Aftertaste: Beer + sweet. Good aftertaste. Subconscious bitterness, it is but a remnant. As you keep drinking the can it gets sweeter and sweeter and more like strongbow (also happens the longer the aftertaste).

Overall: Comparable to Faxe (as in I like!). A good beer. Will try different variations (light/amber/dark) if available. Nice. Not too buzzed after, which means even with the higher alcohol content, it's still a light beer.

I'm back!!!

wow. I can't beleive I havent written on this thing since MARCH 2012???? REALLY??? I guess this is the only time I feel the need to drink beer at home. But remember guys. I have like ONE beer. Not all 4 or 5 or 6 or 10 in one go. Im doing this to find the perfect cheap beer for me. So any of you reading this don't even have to, because you're preferences might be separate from mine. But I mean, some of the generic comments on beers you can take, and hopefully find your own cheap under $2.00 beer to drink, and actually enjoy!

xoxo

Im back. for a bit anyways.

I leave you with a picture of my current 4 beer purchases. Thanks to a little help from the LCBO guy for the one beer (bitburger) that was on sale from $2.10 to $1.90, making it $2.00< approved!
